Mail or bring the HAR form and required documents to the Data Center or one of our community drop–off locations. Once the information is received, we will begin the Hawaiian ancestry verification process.
Ho‘oulu Verification Services receives notification of all Preschool and Campus applicants who have requested to be considered for Orphan preference during the Admissions application process.
Orphan
Kamehameha Schools definition of Orphan: A child who has lost one or both biological/birth parent(s) through death.
Children in single-parent households do not qualify as “orphans” unless the absentee parent is deceased. To verify orphan status, the deceased parent’s death certificate must be submitted, and his/her name must also appear on the child’s birth certificate.
To verify and record your childʻs orphan status with Kamehameha Schools the following will be required, if not already on file with Ho‘oulu Verification Services:
Ho‘oulu Verification Services will validate if documents to confirm orphan status is already on file. If document(s) are needed, Ho‘oulu Verification Services will work with you to have them submitted.
